Kitchen cures doctors swear by – CNN.com

Kitchen cures doctors swear by – CNN.com.

This article addresses simple cures using ingredients found in most kitchens.  I recommend taking it one step further and assuring that you are utilizing organic versions.  Good Life To Go offers a one stop shop for purchasing these and many more cooking products in organic, kosher and often gluten free forms.

Found in this article:

Honey – Be sure it’s raw.  If you can get local (within 50 miles of your home), even better.  Recent tests showed that most honey products in the average grocery store have very little actual honey in them.

Buy Raw Honey

Salt – I recommend Himalayan salts.  Himalayan salt is harvested from the heart of the Himalayan Mountains. Having formed over the last 250 million years, it is an amazingly pure salt-untouched by pollutants and toxins. Himalayan salt is naturally rich in many nutrients and elements, including calcium, magnesium, potassium, copper and iron.

Peppermint Tea – Organic Peppermint would be my recommendation.  As with any herb, a leaf like peppermint is very susceptible to environmental toxins.

Buy Organic Peppermint Tea

Oatmeal – Organic Oatmeal is important to avoid toxins, plus I find that the organic oatmeal we get tastes better!

Buy Organic Oatmeal

Meat Tenderizer – I would like to do further research to identify what is in the meat tenderizer that is helpful.  Some have MSG, which I do not recommend.

There is a great chart in this article that shows which corporations own which organic food companies.  Very enlightening!  Support smaller, local organic whenever possible.

United States – Oil – exports – Historical Data Graphs per Year

United States – Oil – exports – Historical Data Graphs per Year.

The amount of OIL EXPORTS for the United States almost DOUBLED from 2004 – 2008…why?  Profits for oil companies.  Don’t be fooled into believing them when they want to frack and drill.  Gas prices are not because of oil shortages.

Organic Spring Sprouting

Spring Sprouting

I’ve wanted to start my own sprouts for months! Finally I’ve taken the ten minutes out of my busy schedule to begin.

I found a mason jar and replaced the solid center piece in the jar lid with a screen. Measured (2) tbs of Organic Alfalfa Sprouting Seeds into the jar and covered with good water.

When I got up this morning I drained the seeds, added fresh, good water and drained again. I will do that once each evening, and once each morning for the next four days…then, like magic, they will be ready to eat.

It is my intention to grow each kind of sprouting seed available at Good Life To Go. I’ll report out on how to grow them and use them. This week I’ve started Organic Alfalfa Sprouts.

According to Wikipedia, “Sprouting is the practice of germinating seeds to be eaten either raw or cooked. They are a convenient way to have fresh vegetables for salads, or otherwise, in any season and can be germinated at home or produced industrially. Sprouts are believed to be highly nutritious and rich in enzymes which promote good health. They are a prominent ingredient of the raw food diet and common in Eastern Asian cuisine.” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sprouting
